MOSQUITO BEHAVIOR AND DENSITY FLUCTUATIONS Anopheles leucosphyrus group AS VECTOR KNOWLESI MALARIA IN IBOIH

چکیده

Anopheles leucosphyrus group infected with the patogen Plasmodium knowlesi from Macaca fascicularis, nemestrina , and leonine. An. The consists of species crasens, laten s introlotus . mosquitoes have behavior fluctuations in density at a punctual time foraging biting. This study used Animal-baited trap net method, which is method that uses farm animals as an attractant. Data collection has been carried out, it was found mosquito dynamic biting 08:00 PM to 03:00 AM, highest occurring 10:00 PM. varies during active search blood feed.

A New Classification for the Leucosphyrus Group of Anopheles (Cellia)

The Leucosphyrus Group of the genus Anopheles, subgenus Cellia, is divided into three subordinate groups based upon an analysis of relative lengths of the female proboscis, maxillary palpus and forefemur, and the relationships among them. The Elegans, Leucosphyrus and Riparis Subgroups are proposed and currently recognized taxa are assigned to each. Assignment of species to the Dirus and Leucos...

Large fluctuations in the effective population size of the malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae s.s. during vector control cycle

On Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea, indoor residual spraying (IRS) has been part of the Bioko Island Malaria Control Project since early 2004. Despite success in reducing childhood infections, areas of high transmission remain on the island. We therefore examined fluctuations in the effective population size (N e ) of the malaria vector Anopheles gambiae in an area of persistent high transmissi...

Targeting male mosquito swarms to control malaria vector density

Malaria control programs are being jeopardized by the spread of insecticide resistance in mosquito vector populations. It has been estimated that the spread of resistance could lead to an additional 120000 deaths per year, and interfere with the prospects for sustained control or the feasibility of achieving malaria elimination. Another complication for the development of resistance management ...

Stable chromosomal inversion polymorphisms and insecticide resistance in the malaria vector mosquito Anopheles gambiae (Diptera: Culicidae).

Anopheles gambiae Giles has been implicated as a major vector of malaria in Africa. A number of paracentric chromosomal inversions have been observed as polymorphisms in wild and laboratory populations of this species. These polymorphisms have been used to demonstrate the existence of five reproductive units in West African populations that are currently described as incipient species. They hav...

Variant Ionotropic Receptors in the Malaria Vector Mosquito Anopheles gambiae Tuned to Amines and Carboxylic Acids

The principal Afrotropical human malaria vector mosquito, Anopheles gambiae, remains a significant threat to global health. A critical component in the transmission of malaria is the ability of An. gambiae females to detect and respond to human-derived chemical kairomones in their search for blood meal hosts. The basis for host odor responses resides in olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) that ex...
